Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and technically profound individual to fill a dual‑focus role that blends senior‑level Java development with solutions architecture and technical leadership. The ideal candidate will provide hands‑on expertise in designing and building robust, secure, and scalable enterprise‑grade applications while also defining the architectural vision for our client’s new platforms. This role requires deep technical skills, leadership, and a strong understanding of regulatory and security standards within the financial services sector.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design and development of scalable, secure, and high‑performance enterprise‑level Java applications using Spring Boot and related frameworks.

Define and enforce architectural standards, patterns, and best practices.

Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and tools in the Java ecosystem, and drive the adoption of cloud‑native solutions on platforms like AWS.

Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation, including high‑level and low‑level designs, integration specifications, and security designs.

Hands‑on Development & Technical Guidance

Design, develop, test, and maintain microservices‑based applications using Java (8/11/17) and Spring Boot.

Build RESTful APIs and integrate with internal and third‑party systems.

Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams, including code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship on best practices.

Collaborate with DevOps to enhance automation, containerization, and scalability using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).

Troubleshoot and resolve complex application performance, scalability, and security issues.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Compliance

Engage with business stakeholders, product owners, and other technical teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Ensure adherence to secure coding practices and banking compliance standards and regulatory frameworks in Malaysia, such as BNM RMiT.

Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required Skills and Experience

Technical Expertise

10+ years of progressive experience in IT architecture and Java backend development roles, with a minimum of 5 years specializing in AWS Cloud systems.

Deep expertise with Java SE/EE, Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security), Kafka, and PostgreSQL.

Strong understanding of software architecture principles, microservices architecture, and design patterns.

Proven hands‑on experience with AWS Cloud Platforms (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway, ECS/EKS).

Proficiency in designing and optimizing database schemas and interactions (SQL and NoSQL databases).

Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and tools (Git, Maven/Gradle, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).

Qualifications & Soft Skills

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

Proven experience in the financial industry, with strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements and data security standards in Malaysia.

Strong leadership and problem‑solving abilities, capable of making critical decisions.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Professional level preferred).

Experience working with retail stock broking platforms and financial services.

Familiarity with event‑driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SNS/SQS).

Knowledge of modern front‑end frameworks like Angular.
