About the role

EKO Metal Industries Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced IT Engineer to join our dynamic team in Bukit Mertajam, Penang. As an IT Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of our company's IT infrastructure and systems. This is a full‑time position offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain hardware (servers, computers, printers) and software systems.
• Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, both on‑site and remotely.
• Manage and support user accounts, permissions, and access rights in systems such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365, etc.
• Ensure data security, backups, and disaster recovery procedures are implemented and tested.
• Maintain documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.
• Support network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, VPN, firewalls, and wireless access points.
• Assist in IT asset management and inventory tracking.
• Evaluate and recommend software, hardware, and network solutions.
• Develop and implement IT strategies, policies, and procedures to support business objectives.
• Lead and manage the IT team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
• Plan and manage IT budgets, project timelines, and vendor relationships.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, data privacy laws, and cybersecurity best practices.
• Collaborate with other departments to understand IT requirements and deliver effective solutions.
• Perform any other tasks or assignments assigned by superior/HOD.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as an IT role in manufacturing or related field.
• Hands‑on experience with networking, systems administration, and end‑user support.
• Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server environments.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and troubleshooting tools.
• Experience with virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) is a plus.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is a bonus.
• Understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
