A leading company in logistics is seeking an Inventory Controller to manage and oversee inventory within the logistics department. This role involves ensuring optimal stock levels and maintaining accurate inventory data to align with production schedules. The ideal candidate should have a minimum SPM/GCE 'O' level and at least 3 years of relevant experience, along with strong skills in ERP systems and data analysis.
The Inventory Controller is responsible for managing and overseeing inventory levels within the logistics department, ensuring optimal stock levels, and preventing shortages or overstock situations. This role is critical in maintaining accurate inventory data, streamlining the inventory process, and ensuring alignment with production schedules and customer demand. The Inventory Controller also plays a key role in identifying areas for improvement in the supply chain to enhance efficiency.
Monitor and maintain stock levels to ensure materials and products are available as needed for production and customer orders.
Track inventory movements, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded in the system.
Regularly update inventory management systems (ERP, WMS) to reflect accurate stock levels.
Implement strategies to optimize inventory control procedures and minimize discrepancies.
Conduct regular cycle counts to ensure ongoing inventory accuracy.
Organize and participate in annual or ad hoc physical stock counts, reconciling differences and reporting issues to management.
Work closely with production, procurement, and sales teams to forecast demand and plan stock replenishment accordingly.
Place and track purchase orders for replenishment, ensuring timely deliveries to avoid stockouts.
Evaluate and adjust safety stock levels based on demand fluctuations, lead times, and seasonality.
Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries of materials and products.
Address any issues regarding delayed or incorrect deliveries, working with procurement and suppliers to resolve problems efficiently.
Generate inventory reports (e.g., stock levels, reorder points, consumption trends) for management review.
Analyze inventory data to identify trends, potential stock issues, or opportunities for process improvements.
Provide actionable insights to management on optimizing inventory turnover, reducing holding costs, and improving overall logistics efficiency.
Ensure that inventory processes comply with internal controls, quality standards, and safety regulations.
Oversee the proper handling, storage, and labeling of materials in the warehouse.
Maintain the safety and security of the store and shipping area, ensuring compliance with safety guidelines and protocols.
Minimum SPM/GCE “O” level or equivalent qualifications.
At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in warehouse/store operations within a manufacturing or related industry.
Experience in inventory management, stock control, or a related logistics function within a manufacturing or logistics environment.
Good proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
Good skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Familiarity with inventory forecasting tools and techniques is a plus.
Able to work in a warehouse environment, including conducting physical stock checks when required.
Ensure accuracy in all aspects of inventory handling and documentation.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines, especially when dealing with time‑sensitive production and shipping orders.
Capable of troubleshooting issues in inventory discrepancies, material shortages, or shipping delays.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively within a team and coordinate with various departments (production, logistics, quality assurance, etc.).
Ability to adapt to changing warehouse environments, workflows, and priorities.
