Job summary

AmBank Group in Malaysia is seeking an Internal Auditor, Shariah to strengthen our Shariah governance framework and ensure high standards of compliance across Islamic banking operations.

In this role you will conduct Shariah audit engagements, evaluate governance and controls, identify gaps, and prepare reports for management. You’ll work with stakeholders to promote accountability and continuous improvement, with professional certifications considered an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Islamic Finance, Shariah, Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Experience in Shariah Audit, Internal Audit, Shariah Review, Risk Management, Compliance, or Islamic Banking.
• Strong understanding of Shariah Governance requirements and Islamic banking operations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Shariah audit engagements across the Bank's Islamic banking and financial services operations.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of Shariah governance, internal controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
• Identify control gaps and provide practical recommendations to enhance business processes and mitigate risks.
• Assess compliance with Shariah requirements, Bank Negara Malaysia guidelines, and internal policies.
• Prepare audit reports, supporting documentation, and presentations for management review.
• Monitor and follow up on audit findings to ensure timely implementation of corrective actions.
• Partner with business stakeholders to promote a strong culture of governance, accountability, and compliance.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's Degree in Islamic Finance, Shariah, Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
• Experience in Shariah Audit, Internal Audit, Shariah Review, Risk Management, Compliance, or Islamic Banking
• Good understanding of Shariah Governance requirements and Islamic banking operations
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
• Professional certifications such as CIA, ACCA, CPA, CISA, or relevant Shariah qualifications will be an added advantage
