Job summary

FINEXUS SDN BHD seeks a motivated Software Engineer Intern to join our technology team for hands-on full-stack development in a fintech setting.

You will work with experienced engineers to build and maintain web applications, develop RESTful APIs, and gain exposure to banking and payment file formats, encryption, and secure data practices.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Java programming and backend development concepts, preferably Spring MVC or a similar framework.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and client-server architecture.

Responsibilities

• Full-Stack Application Development: Assist in developing and maintaining web applications using React for frontend and Spring MVC (Java) for backend services.
• API Development & Integration: Support the development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of RESTful APIs.
• Version control: Use Git and Sourcetree for source-code management, branching, commits, code review, and release support.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Software Engineer Intern to join our technology team. This internship offers hands-on experience in full-stack software development within a fintech environment.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will help develop and maintain web applications, build and test APIs, and contribute to projects involving financial systems, payment processing, and secure data exchange.

Support reliable RESTful API development, testing, and integration between application layers.

Build practical exposure to financial systems, payment processing, secure file exchange, and data protection practices.

Develop technical judgement, problem-solving ability, and professional software-development habits through real-world delivery work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Full-Stack Application Development

Assist in developing and maintaining web applications using React for frontend development and Spring MVC (Java) for backend services.

Support the delivery of responsive, scalable, maintainable, and high-quality application features.

Participate in testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and enhancement activities under the guidance of experienced engineers.

2. API Development & Integration

Support the development, testing, documentation, and maintenance of RESTful APIs.

Help enable reliable communication between frontend interfaces, backend services, and connected systems.

Validate API request and response behaviour and assist in resolving integration issues.

Use Git and Sourcetree for source-code management, version control, and effective collaboration within the development team.

Follow team workflows for branching, commits, code review, issue tracking, and release support.

Participate in technical discussions, knowledge sharing, and cross-functional project activities.

Assist with file-processing and data-exchange activities involving banking and payment systems.

Gain exposure to banking and payment file formats, encryption standards such as PGP, and secure data-handling practices.

Follow internal security, confidentiality, and data-protection requirements when working with applications and information.

TECHNICAL SCOPE

Backend: Java and Spring MVC or equivalent backend frameworks

Integration: RESTful APIs, client-server architecture, request and response validation

Version Control: Git, Sourcetree, collaborative branching, commits, and code review

Fintech Exposure: Financial systems, payment processing, banking file formats, PGP encryption, and secure data exchange

QUALIFICATIONS

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Familiarity with Java programming and backend development concepts, preferably Spring MVC or a similar framework.

Understanding of RESTful APIs and client-server architecture.

Exposure to version-control systems such as Git; experience with Sourcetree is an advantage.

Interest in financial technology, payment systems, data processing, and information security.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Eagerness to learn new technologies and contribute to real-world software-development projects.
