Job summary

A leading design and build firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks an Interior Design Manager to lead, manage, and mentor the design team. The role requires overseeing design projects from concept to delivery and collaborating with clients and production teams to ensure alignment with requirements. Candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 7–10 years of experience with proficiency in design software. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Job description

Lead, manage, and mentor the design team, ensuring high quality and consistent design output.

Define and implement the company’s design vision, standards and workflows.

Oversee all design projects from concept to final delivery.

Collaborate closely with project team, clients, and production teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with project requirements.

Review and approve all design outputs, including drawings, presentations, 3D renderings, and material specifications.

Ensure designs meet timelines, budgets, and company quality standards.

Provide technical guidance on materials, finishes, and detailing for production.

Support client presentations, proposals, and business development activities.

Drive continuous improvement in design quality, processes, and team efficiency.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.

Minimum 7–10 years of design experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.

Strong portfolio demonstrating creativity, technical expertise, and experience in interior fit-out, furniture, or millwork projects.

Proficient in AutoCAD, 3D Max, V-Ray, and Adobe Photoshop.

Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.

Ability to balance creative vision with practical execution and production feasibility.

Strong client-facing and stakeholder coordination skills.

Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Organized, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Fluent in Chinese (Mandarin) and English, able to communicate effectively with clients and team.
