Job summary

Ideas International School Penang is seeking a passionate Secondary Mathematics / ICT Teacher to join our growing school community. The successful candidate will primarily teach Mathematics at the lower secondary level, with the flexibility to teach upper secondary classes as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, Computer Science, ICT or related fields.
• Teaching qualification or certification.
• Experience teaching secondary Mathematics, particularly at lower secondary level.
• Experience teaching ICT, Coding, Digital Literacy or related areas is an advantage.
• Experience with Cambridge Lower Secondary and/or IGCSE curriculum is an advantage.
• Strong numeracy and mathematical communication skills.
• Ability to explain mathematical and technical concepts clearly.
• Confidence in using technology to support teaching and learning.
• Ability to plan structured, engaging and differentiated lessons.
• Strong classroom management and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons in Mathematics, with a primary focus on lower secondary, aligned with school curriculum and assessment expectations.
• Teach ICT, Coding and AI Literacy lessons where required.
• Develop lessons that build strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Use a range of strategies including inquiry-based learning, collaborative learning, real-world applications and appropriate use of educational technology.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities, confidence levels and learning backgrounds.
• Assess, record and report on student progress in accordance with school policies.
• Maintain a positive, focused and inclusive classroom learning environment.
• Serve as a form tutor where required and support students' academic and personal development.
• Foster positive relationships with students and promote a culture of respect and responsibility.
• Participate in school activities such as events, extra-curricular programmes and trips.
