Overview
We are seeking a seasoned and hands-on Injection Molding Manager to lead the startup and establishment of a major new manufacturing department in Johor Bahru. This critical leadership role is responsible for driving the insourcing of production and building a world-class, highly efficient molding operation from the ground up. The ideal candidate thrives on complex challenges, possesses deep technical expertise in high-precision molding, and has a proven ability to lead and mentor a growing production team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end setup of the new injection molding department, including facility layout planning, equipment procurement, and commissioning (initial setup involves 8 machines, with a plan to grow).
- Drive insourcing of production and build a world-class molding operation from the ground up.
- Define KPIs, manage daily production schedules, and drive continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) to optimize output and cost efficiency.
- Recruit, train, and develop a skilled molding team of technicians, process engineers, and operators to grow to 30-40 people.
- Manage preventative maintenance programs and maintain relationships with external tooling suppliers to ensure optimal mold performance.
- Develop and implement Scientific M molding principles and robust processes to ensure high-quality, repeatable output and minimal waste.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 7+ years of experience in injection molding, with at least 3 years in a leadership/managerial role.
- Technical Depth: Strong knowledge of injection molding machines, tooling, automation, and plastics technology.
- Startup Experience: Proven experience in insourcing production or building a molding operation from scratch is a significant advantage.
- Continuous Improvement: Hands-on experience implementing methodologies like Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
- Communication: Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills in English and Bahasa.
