Job description
  1. 1.1. Monitors hospital infection incidences and liaise with doctors and nurses on the on the correction and preventive action to be adopted.
  2. 1.2. Liaises with Ward nurses and Lab Technologist to collect data on nosocomial infection.
  3. 1.3. Identifies hazardous or antibiotics resistance organisms to enable early investigation and intervention in the control of the spread of infection.
  4. 1.4. Conducts clinical surveillance in Wards and Outpatient Clinics to assess the efficacy of control measures.
  5. 1.5. Detects trends in the incidences of infection within the hospital.
  6. 1.6. Analyses data and provides feedback on results of studies to the Hospital Infection and
  7. 1.7. Provides training to nurses and other health care personnel on the best Infection Control practices.
  8. 1.8. Assists with formulating policies on Infection Control.
  9. 1.9. Participate in Quality Assurance programmes and Quality Improvement activities.
  10. 1.10. Conducts infection Control audits at least twice a year in accordance to the Infection Control Programme.
  11. 1.11. Prepares the Infection Control Programme on a yearly basis and obtains approval from the Hospital Infection and Antibiotic Control Committee prior to implementation.
  12. 1.12. Ensures notifiable diseases are reported by the Ward Nurses to the relevant Health authorities.
  13. 1.13. Maintains minutes of Hospital Infection and Antibiotics Control Committee meetings.
  14. 1.14. Performs any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the management.
Qualification and Experience
  • Minimum Diploma in Nursing
  • Minimum 5-8 years’ experience
  • Preferably with Post Basic in Infection Control / Aspic Course
  • Possess formal training in Infection Control
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Able to work independently and communicate effectively at all levels
