Indirect Category Procurement Manager (12-months contract)

Our client, a leading global multi-national conglomerate, is seeking a pioneering Global Indirect Procurement Manager to join their global headquarters team. This is a newly created 1-year contract role based in Malaysia, offering a unique "greenfield" opportunity.

This is not a standard category management position. We are looking for a strategic builder who can develop new indirect categories from scratch. You will be the first procurement team member in Malaysia, empowered to create new processes, define SOPs, and navigate ambiguity to build a successful function.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Pioneer & Build: Act as the key driver for new indirect categories, developing and executing strategic sourcing plans from the ground up.
• Process Creation: Design, implement, and refine new procurement processes and SOPs where none currently exist.
• Global Sourcing: Lead the end-to-end sourcing cycle (RFx, spend analysis, negotiation, contract execution) for global consolidation opportunities.
• Stakeholder & User Management: Manage relationships with internal stakeholders across diverse global business units, with a unique focus on improving the internal "user experience" of the procurement process.
• Data & Reporting: Manage cross-functional data, set up KPIs, and prepare high-level progress reports for global management.
• Supplier Management: Independently manage the supplier onboarding and awarding process.

What We Are Looking For (Mandatory):

• Contract Acceptance: You must be willing to accept a 1-year contract position. (Please note: conversion to a permanent role is unlikely).
• "From Scratch" Experience: Demonstrable, hands-on experience in building procurement processes, creating SOPs, and working through ambiguity.
• Indirect Procurement Expertise: Strong background in the indirect procurement landscape. You must be agile and flexible to trial and develop new categories, rather than being fixed to one (e.g., only IT or only Marketing).
• Global/Regional Experience: A minimum of 5 years working in a Global or Regional procurement role.
• Core Skills: Expert-level negotiation, strategic sourcing, and spend analysis skills.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (for data analysis) and PowerPoint (for management reporting).
• Personality: A high-integrity, self-motivated individual with a positive attitude, strong initiative, and excellent communication skills.
