Job description
Beyond Reactions & Lab Reports – Inspire the Scientists of Tomorrow
Join Us as an IGCSE Chemistry Teacher

Chemistry is the science of transformation—from the reactions that fuel our bodies to the materials that shape our world. It’s about curiosity, experimentation, and discovery. But too often, students memorise chemical equations instead of experiencing chemistry in action. At TongXin Waldorf School, we believe learning should be hands‑on, meaningful, and connected to life. We’re looking for an IGCSE Chemistry Teacher who can bring science to life—helping students succeed in exams while building curiosity, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of the world.

A Teaching Experience That's Different - And Supported

You don’t need experience with holistic Waldorf education—just a passion for teaching and an open mind. Here, you’ll have the freedom to move beyond rote learning, using experiments, creative projects, and real‑world applications to make chemistry real. Training & peer support provided.

What You'll Do (With Flexibility & Guidance)
  • Make Chemistry Real – Show students how chemistry shapes everything—from food to medicine, from energy to the environment.
  • Balance Exams with Exploration – Prepare students for IGCSE success, while teaching critical thinking and problem‑solving.
  • Work in Small Classes – With 10‑15 students per class, you’ll have the space to personalise learning and build strong student relationships.
  • Lead Engaging Lab Sessions – Guide students through safe, hands‑on experiments that spark curiosity and deeper understanding.
  • Collaborate Across Subjects – Connect chemistry to biology, physics, environmental science, and even the arts.
  • Build a Culture of Inquiry – Encourage curiosity, experimentation, and scientific thinking—not just memorisation.
  • Be Part of a Thriving School Community – Join a supportive, engaged team where teachers, students, and parents learn and grow together.
Who We're Looking For
  • A qualified Chemistry teacher with experience teaching IGCSE or equivalent.
  • Passionate about making chemistry engaging, practical, and relevant to students.
  • A clear communicator who can break down complex ideas into relatable, real‑world concepts.
  • Open to a hands‑on, interdisciplinary teaching approach (training provided).
  • Someone who values both academic rigour and creativity—helping students think, question, and experiment.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Diploma in Education) or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience with lab‑based teaching and inquiry‑driven science education.
  • Familiarity with IGCSE exam prep & assessment strategies.
  • Interest in STEM projects, student‑led experiments, or science fairs (preferred).

Don't have this level of experience? That's ok - we're also open to receiving applications for Lab Assistants too.

More Than a Classroom – A Space for Discovery

This is a full‑time position, however, we are also open to consider part‑time as an option.

More importantly though, it’s a chance to inspire the next generation of thinkers and doers. If you’ve ever thought, “What if teaching chemistry could be more exciting?”—this is your chance to find out.
