Human Rights Compliance Lead – Sunway Geo, Sunway City

This role supports BAT Australia’s compliance with the Australian Modern Slavery Act 2018, including preparation and submission of the annual Modern Slavery Statement to the Australian Commonwealth Government. The position combines hands‑on risk management and monitoring with strategic planning and continuous improvement, ensuring adherence to legal obligations and BAT’s ethical sourcing standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conduct Initial Modern Slavery Risk Assessments for new suppliers and communicate results to Relationship Managers.
  • Perform enhanced due diligence for Medium/High Risk suppliers, including policy reviews and questionnaires.
  • Develop and negotiate risk mitigation action plans for Medium/High Risk suppliers, involving Legal where required.
  • Monitor supplier progress on completion of enhanced due diligence questionnaires and mitigation plans.
  • Review MDG New Supplier Report monthly to ensure AFC Modern Slavery Category applied; initiate corrective actions.
  • Prepare compliance dashboards and reports on supplier volumes, due diligence progress, mitigation plans, and training metrics.
  • Coordinate development of Modern Slavery Strategic Plan for next reporting period, including external consultation.
  • Deliver annual and onboarding Modern Slavery training for relevant staff and manage training enrollment via Safetrac.
  • Act as business owner and system administrator for Safetrac and IntegrityNext, including access management and UAT.
  • Manage vendor relationships with Safetrac and IntegrityNext, including CRA risk assessment, contract management, and invoice approvals.
  • Develop internal and external communications on Modern Slavery compliance processes and initiatives.
  • Present progress updates, trends, and issues to senior stakeholders.
  • Coordinate development and submission of the annual Modern Slavery Statement to the Australian Commonwealth Government.
  • Seek Governance approval for yearly statement, strategic plan amendments, and annual budget.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Compliance expertise: Understands regulatory requirements and applies them effectively.
  • BSc/BA in law, finance, business administration or related field.
  • Certified compliance professional is a plus.
  • Project management or analysis certification would be well regarded.
  • Experience in compliance, risk management, or supplier governance within an industry‑standard compliance framework.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage projects and deliver against deadlines.
  • Proficiency in compliance systems and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with Modern Slavery legislation and ethical sourcing principles (desirable).
