Job description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Human Resource Manager to lead and strengthen the HR function across a growing retail group. The role requires a hands‑on, people‑centric leader who can drive recruitment, develop structured HR processes, and implement and monitor staff KPIs to support organisational performance and growth.

The HR Manager will work closely with senior management, outlet managers, and cross‑functional teams to ensure HR strategies and people practices align with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
HR Planning, Recruitment & Talent Acquisition
  • Lead end‑to‑end recruitment for HQ and outlet roles, including job posting, screening, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
  • Develop manpower planning and staffing forecasts across multiple business units.
  • Build strong talent pipelines and support employer branding efforts.
  • Ensure recruitment processes are structured, timely, and compliant with internal standards.
KPI Development, Monitoring & Performance Management (Core Requirement)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain KPI frameworks for HQ and outlet employees.
  • Collaborate with Department Heads/Outlet Managers to cascade KPIs clearly and consistently.
  • Track and monitor staff performance through monthly/quarterly reviews and reporting dashboards.
  • Highlight areas of underperformance and propose corrective or development actions.
  • Lead performance appraisal cycles, promotion reviews, and performance‑based incentives.
  • Develop and update HR policies, SOPs, and employee handbooks to ensure compliance with Malaysia’s Employment Act and company governance.
  • Ensure proper documentation, record‑keeping, and adherence to HR processes.
  • Manage disciplinary actions, domestic inquiries, and staff grievances professionally and fairly.
Training, Development & Succession Planning
  • Identify training needs and implement continuous development programmes.
  • Organise training for customer service, leadership, compliance, and outlet operational skills.
  • Support development of succession plans for key HQ and outlet positions.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Coordination
  • Support payroll processes by verifying attendance, overtime, allowances, and deductions.
  • Review compensation structures, benefits, and incentive schemes to ensure competitiveness.
  • Manage leave administration, medical claims, insurance coordination, and other welfare matters.
HR Operations & People Engagement
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives aimed at improving retention and workplace culture.
  • Handle employee relations, conflict resolution, and grievance management.
  • Conduct periodic outlet visits to support HR audits, compliance, and staff engagement.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of HR experience, preferably in retail, FMCG, or operations‑intensive sectors.
  • Strong experience in KPI development, performance management, and HR analytics.
  • Solid knowledge of Malaysia Employment Act, IR practices, and HR governance.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to manage high‑volume operational HR tasks.
  • Willingness to travel for periodic outlet support.
  • Analytical & KPI‑focused, strong with data and performance metrics.
  • People‑oriented, empathetic and consistent in decision‑making.
  • Strong leadership, able to guide HR team and influence operational managers.
  • Problem‑solving mindset, especially in conflict and performance issues.
  • Process‑driven, disciplined in enforcing SOPs and compliance.
