A growing innovative business in George Town is seeking an HR Assistant to manage recruitment processes and support employee journeys. Responsibilities include shift attendance monitoring, payroll data entry, and managing injury documentation for staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, supportive environment. This fixed-term role is for the upcoming kiwifruit season starting in January 2026, with twilight shift availability required.
This role is based in Edgecumbe and is an opportunity to learn more about Human Resources and develop practical knowledge and experience.
The duties in this role are varied, with a strong focus on key HR functions such as recruitment and induction processes, daily monitoring of shift attendance, and accurate payroll data entry. The Hr assistant will be in charge of managing the full injury management process for both day and night shift employees, including checking on injured staff, completing required documentation, and coordinating with Work AON and the Health & Safety team. You will play a vital role in supporting a smooth and efficient employee journey from the moment of application through to onboarding. Exceptional customer service skills are essential, as you will often be the first point of contact for job applicants, employees, and visitors! Ensuring everyone is greeted in a warm, professional, and welcoming manner. Your ability to communicate clearly, manage sensitive information, and maintain a high level of attention to detail will be crucial to your success in this role
We have lots of fun during our season! So you will also need to demonstrate great teamwork, a good sense of humour and the ability to get stuck in and motivate people!
You will also need:Strong communication and interpersonal skills to be able to work as part of a team within a diverse seasonal workforce.
Resilience to be able to work effectively when working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
To be able to tactfully and professionally deal with employment matters in a discreet and confidential manner.
Good time management and organisational skills.
Be able to pick up new computer systems confidently and quickly.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Experience in recruitment and onboarding processes is preferred but is not essential.
Flexibility – ability to work extended hours or weekends as requested
These opportunities are fixed term commencing in January for our 2026 kiwifruit season for a minimum of 6 months.Please note that this role is for a twilight shift, and you must be available to work during these hours.
