Overview
The Italian Baker Sdn. Bhd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of FFM Berhad, Malaysia's largest flour miller. Operating a modern facility in Pulau Indah, Selangor, The Italian Baker produces delicious bread and cakes under the Massimo brand.
We're looking for a Safety and Health Executive, who will be responsible for implementing and monitoring workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with local regulations (OSHA, BOMBA, etc.) and company policies. This role involves conducting risk assessments, safety training, incident investigations, and audits to foster a zero-harm culture.
Responsibilities
- Advising the management on measures to improve the safety and health aspects in the workplace.
- Inspecting the place of work, machines, plants, equipment, substance, appliances, or processes of manual labour to determine risks of incidents.
- Investigating any accident, dangerous occurrence, occupational poisoning or occupational disease happened in the workplace.
- Collecting, analysing, and maintaining statistics of any accident, occupational poisoning, and occupational disease in the workplace.
- Assisting the management to coordinate the Occupational Safety and Health Committee in organizing and implementing occupational safety and health programs in the workplace.
- Guiding the Occupational Safety and Health Committee in the inspection of the workplace to check the effectiveness and compliance with the related Acts and Regulations.
- Executing occupational safety and health programs including campaigns, trainings, emergency drill, briefings and others as instructed by Safety Manager.
- Cultivate a workplace culture on food safety and quality and take part in internal and external audits, supplying required documentation and responding to quality-related questions.
- Serve as a role model and advocate for the companys culture and values both internally and externally.
- Model and uphold the companys culture, values, and ethical standards, inspiring trust and accountability at all levels.
- Demonstrate adaptability and collaboration in supporting group-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects.
- Undertake special assignments and additional responsibilities as delegated by senior management from time to time.
Qualifications
- A degree holder in Safety and Health or any other related discipline.
- Greenbook Holder (DOSH) is advantageous.
- Minimum 2 years in safety management (manufacturing industry preferred).
- Hands-on experience with risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Well-versed in related legal and other requirements in relation with Occupational Safety and Health.
- Excellent oral and written communication in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Act as a Safety role model in the plant, respectful, open-minded and honest as well as behave with integrity.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Able to identify gaps in occupational safety and health programs and propose or advise measures for improvement.
- Professional and calm in handling unexpected situations.
- Able to think critically and evidence-driven during investigations.
Technical Skills & Professional Knowledge
- Knowledge of industrial hygiene, fire safety, and ergonomics.
- Good interpersonal skills with strong analytical and trouble-shooting capabilities.
- Familiar and experience in dealing with government bodies such as DOSH, BOMBA.
