Job summary

LF Lansen Sdn Bhd is seeking a Safety Officer to develop and maintain comprehensive safety programs in line with OSHA regulations and Malaysian EHS standards. You will conduct regular audits, perform risk assessments, and lead safety training for all employees to ensure a safe workplace.

The role requires 1-2 years in a similar position within manufacturing, strong incident investigation skills, and fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in OSH, environmental science, engineering or related field.
  • 1-2 years experience as Safety Officer, Safety Supervisor, or similar in industrial/manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Malaysian OSHA regulations and local legal requirements.
  • Proficiency in risk assessments, hazard identification and mitigation.
  • Experience delivering safety training to diverse employee groups.
  • Ability to develop and manage emergency response plans, including drills.
  • Experience performing safety audits and inspections for compliance and improvement.
  • Familiarity with PPE selection, usage and management.
  • Proven ability to investigate incidents, determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with management, employees and regulatory bodies.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures per OSHA and local EHS standards.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of workplace, equipment, and practices.
  • Perform thorough risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to prevent incidents.
  • Organize and deliver engaging safety training for all employees on hazard communication, emergency procedures, PPE use.
  • Lead and coordinate emergency response planning and drills with clear evacuation procedures.
  • Investigate all workplace incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage procurement and maintenance of PPE for all employees.
  • Stay updated with changes in EHS regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with managers and staff to foster a strong safety culture and encourage hazard reporting.
  • Maintain records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and other documentation.

  • Lead and coordinate emergency response planning and drills, ensuring that all personnel are aware of evacuation procedures and emergency contact information.

  • Investigate all workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and prepare detailed incident reports for management and regulatory bodies.

  • Manage the procurement, distribution, and maintenance of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), ensuring that appropriate gear is available and used correctly by all employees.

  • Stay up-to-date with changes in EHS regulations and legislation, ensuring that the company remains compliant and proactively adapts its safety programs.

  • Collaborate with department managers and employees to foster a strong safety culture throughout the organization, encouraging proactive hazard reporting and safety suggestions.

  • Maintain accurate records of safety training, inspections, incident reports, and other relevant safety documentation as required by company policy and regulatory bodies.
