Head of Information Technology

On-site, based in the Johor Bahru region of Malaysia.

The Company:

The Head of IT will serve as a strategic partner to the leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the Company’s IT strategy to enable profitable growth, operational efficiency, and digital integration. This role will focus on optimizing ERP systems, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business applications to build a unified, scalable, and secure technology environment across the Group.

Job Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive IT strategy aligned with business priorities.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives including cloud adoption, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
ERP System Integration & Optimization
  • Oversee ERP platform assessment, optimisation, standardization, and integration across the Group.
  • Ensure ERP systems support financials, project execution, supply chain, HR, and reporting.
IT Infrastructure & Operations
  • Manage design and deployment of scalable, resilient IT infrastructure across all locations.
  • Ensure high service levels, system uptime, and responsive IT support.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
  • Establish cybersecurity policies and frameworks aligned with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to safeguard data and operations.
Systems Integration & Business Applications
  • Harmonize business applications (e.g., project management, asset management, procurement).
  • Drive data integration and master data governance for Group-wide analytics.
Vendor Management & Outsourcing
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure optimal service delivery and ROI.
  • Oversee outsourcing strategies and performance metrics.
Budgeting & Cost Management
  • Lead Group-wide IT budgeting and cost control.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources and technology investments.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 15+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Experience managing IT across multi-region operations.
  • Proven success in ERP integration and digital transformation.
  • Deep knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) and risk management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to align technology with business goals and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Expertise in project management, change management, and organizational development.
  • Candidates must possess the right to work in Malaysia without requiring a visa or work permit sponsorship.
Preferred Attributes:
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, EPICOR (preferred), especially in project-based environments.
  • Familiarity with petrochemical, energy, construction, or heavy industrial sectors.
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, PMP, or ITIL are advantageous.
