Job summary

A financial services firm in Kuala Lumpur is looking for an experienced finance professional with a strong brokerage background. You will ensure compliance with regulations, manage financial reporting, and assist in budgeting. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of experience in finance or accounting, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in accounting software. This role involves mentoring teams and supporting group initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible finance or accounting experience.
  • Experience in the financial industry, especially from brokerage background preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively under pressure.

Note: Candidates from brokerage background who are well versed with both Bursa and Securities Commission's rules and reporting are highly preferred.

Job Accountability
  • Cover the full set of accounts for the licensed entity including other entities which may be set up.
  • Cover all financial operational related matters.
  • Ensure and/or perform daily accounting activities for our Malaysia regulated entities; Prepare financial and management reports and ensure timely, accurate month-end closing and financial reporting to Management.
  • Responsible to ensure funding adequacy of the company with respect to its operations by working closely with operations team.
  • Responsible for handling corporate tax and SST/GST matters, including computation and reporting.
  • Responsible for handling Risk Based Capital and margin requirements/threshold.
  • Perform all necessary reporting as per licensing requirements in accordance to SC and Bursa regulations.
  • Daily monitoring to ensure compliance with Securities Commission and Bursa’s financial requirements.
  • Assist the CEO to perform annual budgeting exercise and ensure all forecast are made with accuracy.
  • Responsible to perform budget variance analysis vs actual.
  • Handle all ad-hoc queries from internal stakeholders, counterparties, and custodians.
  • Create (when needed) and improve current operational processes for all areas relating to finance and finance operations.
  • Participate in other projects, new products and other initiatives including take up ad hoc tasks as required.
  • Ensure all KPIs for team members (If any) are being planned in accordance of the overall objective of the company.
  • Mentor and motivate teams (if any) to achieve productivity and engagement in accordance of the KPI set.
  • To support any group initiatives and projects.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the CEO.
Job Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting preferred but not necessary, plus 10+ years of progressively responsible finance or accounting experience.
  • Candidate from financial industry, especially from brokerage background who is well versed with both Bursa and SC rules and reporting is highly preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and standard accounting software packages.
  • Multi-tasker; capable of working on multiple projects at one time, often under pressure.
  • Awareness of administrative and financial regulations and how to apply them to daily workflows.
