Job summary

A global leader in medical device technology is seeking a Head of Engineering in Penang. This senior management role involves leading a high-quality engineering team, managing complex projects, and driving technical excellence. A global leader in medical device technology. This role requires an experienced and highly strategic individual to take on the role of Head of Engineering. This is a crucial leadership position where you will drive technical excellence, manage complex projects, and develop a high-quality engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership and Development: Guide, train, and motivate staff, assisting subordinates in attaining career goals. Recruit and maintain a high-quality staff. Act as a role model and foster a culture of diversity and collaboration.
  • Strategy and Resource Management: Assist in or develop departmental budgets and monitor spending. Determine appropriate staff levels, schedules, and resources. Work with other managers to understand priorities and plan resource allocation accordingly.
  • Project and Operations Oversight: Prioritize and manage the execution of multiple department projects. Monitor and evaluate project and department progress and results. Manage operational functional deliverables and ensure technical excellence for product development.
  • Process Improvement and Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to identify and resolve production/engineering issues. Support and/or lead value improvement or strategic activity review sponsored projects. Maintain and enhance cross-functional team relationships customers.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Education: A minimum Degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Chemical Engineering, or Science is required.
  • Experience: 12 - 18 years of experience in an engineering leadership role is required. Experience with Industry 4.0 and medical devices is preferable.
  • Leadership and Communication: Dynamic and influential communicator and a department-wide motivator. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to cultivate and utilize strategic networks to champion organizational change, master the art of win-win negotiation, and commit to the mentorship and advancement of the senior team.
  • Personal Attributes: Highly resilient in dealing with challenges and regularly works outside of the comfort zone.
