Job summary

AEON Credit Service (M) Berhad is seeking a Head of Data Science to set the vision and drive execution for the organization’s data science and analytics engineering capabilities.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, partner with stakeholders, and own end-to-end ML ownership from problem definition to value realization, enabling scalable, explainable analytics products across the enterprise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree or PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in data, analytics, or AI roles, with significant leadership responsibilities.
• Proven experience leading both analytics engineering and data science teams.
• Strong understanding of data modeling, analytics-layer design, and machine learning techniques.
• Experience translating business strategy into scalable data solutions.
• Experience in cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Familiarity with modern analytics stacks (e.g., dbt, BI platforms, feature stores).
• Experience establishing or scaling data science team is a plus.
• Industry experience in financial services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set vision, strategy, and execution for data science and analytics engineering.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams of Data Scientists and Analytics Engineers.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to drive data-driven decision making.
• Define roadmaps for analytics engineering, ML, and insight generation.
• Oversee analytics engineering practices, data models, and reusable datasets.
• Develop and deploy predictive, prescriptive, and descriptive analytics solutions.
• Own analytics and data science solutions from problem definition to production deployment.
• Provide trusted advisory to senior leadership with data-driven insights and recommendations.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, model governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Mentor and grow teams; define career pathways and performance expectations.
• Identify and adopt emerging AI/ML techniques to meet business needs.
