Job description

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head of Agronomy to lead our agronomic initiatives and drive sustainable agricultural practices. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership, the Board of Directors, and key stakeholders to enhance crop production, soil health, and overall plantation productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead agronomic research and technical services tailored to THP’s operational needs.
• Design and manage field research trials to innovate and improve crop production techniques.
• Oversee the planning and coordination of tissue sampling across all THP plantations estates.
• Provide fertiliser recommendations based on tissue analysis results.
• Conduct field investigations to address agronomic challenges as required.
• Present research findings and strategic recommendations to senior management.
• Offer agronomic guidance and support to estate operations and internal/external stakeholders.
• Monitor and analyse crop performance, soil health, and pest management systems.
• Develop and implement sustainable oil palm cultivation strategies.
• Establish and maintain networks with industry researchers and experts to foster knowledge & technology transfer.
• Stay abreast of the latest developments in agronomy and agricultural technology.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Biology, Agriculture, Biotechnology, or a related field.

Proven experience working at senior management and executive leadership levels, including presenting recommendations and engaging in strategic decision-making.

Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in agronomy, with a focus on plantation crops (oil palm experience is highly preferred).

Strong expertise in crop management, soil science, and pest and disease control, plant nutrition, and physiology.

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Proficient in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Experience in agricultural software and technology tools.

Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel as needed.
