Job summary

A leading healthcare group in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an in-house legal counsel to provide comprehensive legal support across various business functions. The ideal candidate will be a Malaysian-qualified lawyer with 5-7 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in-house or within the healthcare sector. Responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts, providing regulatory advice, and managing litigation risks. Strong commercial and interpersonal skills are essential as the candidate will support strategic projects and engage with internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of post-qualification experience, preferably with in-house, healthcare or construction focus.
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Experience with corporate governance and personal data protection laws is advantageous.

The Job

Our Client is seeking a dynamic and motivated in-house legal counsel to join the Group Legal and Risk Management team. The successful candidate will provide legal support across a range of business functions and assist in managing legal risk, ensuring compliance, and supporting operational and strategic initiatives across the Group.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial and regulatory experience, with experience in handling a variety of legal matters including some prior litigation management. In-house experience would be a plus but is not a requirement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts including NDAs, service agreements, partner contracts, consultancy contracts, leases, etc.
  • Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on a broad range of legal issues including corporate governance, regulatory compliance, employment, intellectual property, and on commercial and operational matters.
  • Provide legal support on strategic projects and initiatives, investments, M&A and joint ventures as needed.
  • Manage pre-litigation matters, support disputes, and liaise with external counsel on litigation and other specialized legal matters as necessary.
  • Assist with corporate governance functions, including maintaining corporate records and preparing board and shareholder resolutions.
Requirements
  • Malaysian-qualified lawyer with at least 5–7 years post qualified experience; some in-house, healthcare or construction industry experience preferred.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities independently, while maintaining a commercial and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Experience working within a group corporate structure and with personal data protection laws are advantageous.
