Job Purpose
The Graduate Trainee, Sustainability will assist the Head / Senior Manager, Sustainability in implementing and monitoring the company's sustainability initiatives, with a focus on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, water and waste management, and sustainability-related data analytics. The role will assist in data collection, validation, analysis, and reporting processes, ensuring that sustainability metrics across environmental, social, and governance domains are accurate, timely, and actionable. This role will be utilized by the Head of Sustainability as a temporary assessment position to evaluate the candidate’s overall work performance before recommending for potential into the Executive position.
Job Accountabilities
- Monitor regular updates and user input across various sustainability indicators in tracking, collecting, and validating data related to GHG emissions, water consumption, waste generation and biodiversity data across the organization.
- Liaise with Digital or software development teams for ProSus system enhancements or issue resolution to ensure system compliance according to GHG Protocol/ IPCC standards.
- Manage and maintain data within ProSus, ensuring integrity, accuracy, and completeness. Provide first‑level support to internal users of ProSus, including basic troubleshooting, training, and documentation for internal and external users.
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives in line with corporate ESG strategies and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the preparation of internal dashboards and reports as well as external disclosures (e.g., sustainability reports, ESG ratings, GRI, TCFD, CDP, IFRS (S1 & S2) etc.).
- Perform data analysis to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for environmental performance improvement.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (e.g., operations, facilities, procurement. digital) to administer sustainability data gathering and reporting.
- Maintain accurate records and databases for environmental KPIs and sustainability metrics.
- Stay informed of relevant sustainability regulations, standards, and industry trends.
- Assist in organizing sustainability‑related training, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
- Collaborate with internal departments to gather sustainability‑related data in accordance with reporting timelines.
- Analyze sustainability data to identify trends, risks, and performance gaps.
- Support audits, assurance, and data verification processes as required.
- Contribute to the improvement of data collection methodologies and reporting workflows.
Minimum Essential Qualifications & Technical Competences
Formal Education:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
Work Experience:
Fresh Graduates or those with less than 2 years of experience in sustainability, ESG, environmental management, or related areas (internships or academic projects count).
Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of GHG accounting, water and waste management principles, and sustainability reporting frameworks.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.) is an advantage.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail‑oriented, proactive, and willing to learn.
