Responsibilities
- Responsible for establishing, developing, and maintaining good relationships with local relevant stakeholders, including government departments, academic circles, industry associations and NGOs in Southeast Asia's major markets to promote and expedite government support, business operations, regulatory approvals, towards improving the overall environment for conducting business in the local market.
- In line with business strategy, develop and implement effective strategies and plans to engage and partner local government, academic, and other stakeholders. Work with local government stakeholders to secure strategic partnerships and incentives.
- Actively identify, research, analyse, and monitor the impact of government policies and programmes on the organisation. Recommend positions on industry's development trends (risks and opportunities) and develop strategies and engagement plans to enhance the organisation’s visibility and influence.
- Prepare regular reports/briefings on policy developments, stakeholder activities, and relevant initiatives.
- Represent the organisation to understand and participate in relevant projects or activities of government and relevant stakeholders. Where necessary, negotiate and advocate for the organisation’s interests.
Qualifications
Skill requirement
- Work experience: Relevant degree with minimum 5 years of work experience in governments, international government relations/foreign relations, or public policy-related roles, with a preference for Southeast Asian markets.
- Politically sensitive, solid understanding of government protocol, laws, legislation and regulations related to technology policy, AI, and education, and strong grasp of local policy-making, regulatory, and bureaucratic processes.
- Solid project management, data and information analytics, strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, and the ability to navigate and resolve complex organisational and government issues.
- Strong time-management, multi-tasking skills, and an ability to organize and coordinate multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills, able to cooperate and operate alongside a cross-regional team, with a mindset to leverage internal and external resources to solve problems, resolve conflicts, and progress with partners.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and expression skills, and proficiency in both oral and written Bahasa Melayu and English.
