Job summary

Celestica is seeking a Legal Director 1 for its Asia region, based in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia. This remote role oversees global contracts management, budgeting and policy formation with indirect reporting to senior executives.

The position requires drafting sophisticated contracts, leading negotiation strategies, and providing guidance to cross-functional teams across geographies. Strong leadership, HR and risk-analysis skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing and communication skills.
• Significant experience and knowledge of legal concepts, complex commercial contract development, negotiation practices and contractual/business risk analysis.
• Very high level of ability to independently draft sophisticated contractual documents and mentor junior team members in doing the same.
• Ability to develop and implement new global processes in a team-based environment.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent negotiating skills, perception management skills and relationship management skills.
• Very good HR skills as well as employee/team management skills and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides contractual/legal direction and guidance to the Contracts Management, Sales & Marketing and Account Team(s), from pre-bid and contract negotiation through to the completion of the contract work.
• Responsible for integrating Celestica's Contracts Management and best practices across Celestica world wide.
• Provides contractual direction, support and coordination to and between Celestica's global Contracts groups and other departments in executing and supporting the performance of customer contracts and other agreements.
• Requires the ability to evaluate and prioritize divergent interests of Celestica and the customer.
• Makes key decisions balancing customer responsiveness with protecting Celestica's interests.
• Works with customer account teams and legal counsel to interpret advice and translate it into business practice.
• Provides contractual direction and educational support to all participants in the contract process.
• Develops Corporate Contracts policy.
