About the Role

We are seeking a senior, strategic Global Commodity Manager for a leading multinational manufacturer. This is a brand-new, greenfield position where you will have the autonomy to design, build, and lead the global commodity management function from the ground up.

Your primary mission will be to consolidate sourcing volumes across all global entities, particularly in Malaysia and Europe. The main KPI will be achieving significant cost savings and negotiating favorable payment terms with a global supplier base.

This high-visibility role reports directly to the Operation Director in Malaysia and has a dotted line to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement global sourcing strategies for high-value components.


• Lead sourcing, negotiation, and contract management for key commodities, with a major focus on PCBs, batteries, battery racks, capacitors, and control cables.


• Consolidate the global supply base to improve leverage, reduce costs, and standardize sourcing practices.


• Manage and mitigate supply chain risks by forecasting price and forex fluctuations.


• Collaborate with various entities to gain cooperation, set up new processes, and drive the new sourcing strategy.


• Travel internationally 3-4 times per year to meet with stakeholders in Europe and visit critical suppliers.

Who We Are Looking For

This is the most critical requirement: We need a candidate with experience in a "high mix, low volume" (HMLV) manufacturing environment.

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 8-10 years of strategic sourcing or commodity management experience in a manufacturing setting.


• Possess a network of proven, reliable suppliers.


• Proven experience sourcing from suppliers globally, especially in Asia, China, and Europe.


• A senior, "mature" candidate who can bring proposals, set up processes from scratch, and influence senior stakeholders.


• Strong experience in contract negotiation and cost reduction activities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience from similar industries, such as switch gear or electrical equipment manufacturing.


• Specific sourcing experience with PCBs, batteries, or other electronic/electrical components.


• Ability to communicate in Mandarin will be advantageous.
