The General Dentist will be responsible for delivering high-quality, comprehensive dental care while ensuring a safe, professional and positive experience for every patient. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong clinical judgement, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to delivering patient-centred care. A minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical experience will be an added advantage. The candidate should also have the ability to build strong patient relationships, attract, introduce and retain patients, and contribute to the growth of the dental practice. The role requires the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with the dental and medical team onsite to ensure high standards of clinical care and overall patient satisfaction.
2. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive dental examinations, diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Provide general dental treatments, including but not limited to:
- Scaling and polishing
- Restorative procedures and fillings
- Extractions
- Root canal treatment
- Prosthodontic procedures
- Preventive and basic periodontal care
- Minor oral surgical procedures within the dentist’s competency.
- Assess patients’ oral health and provide appropriate treatment recommendations.
- Explain diagnosis, treatment options, procedures, risks, benefits and expected outcomes clearly to patients.
- Manage dental emergencies and provide appropriate immediate treatment or referral where necessary.
- Maintain accurate and complete clinical records, treatment notes and patient documentation. Ensure all clinical procedures are performed in accordance with professional standards, applicable regulations and clinic protocols.
Patient Care & Experience
- Provide personalised dental care and demonstrate empathy and professionalism at all times while maintaining strong professional relationships with patients..
- Educate patients on oral hygiene, preventive care and appropriate treatment plans.
- Follow up with patients where necessary to monitor treatment outcomes and patient satisfaction and handle patient concerns professionally and elevate matters when appropriate.
Clinical Governance & Compliance
- Maintain high standards of infection control, sterilisation and clinical safety.
- Ensure compliance with relevant Ministry of Health, Malaysian Dental Council and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to clinic SOPs, clinical guidelines and ethical standards. Participate in clinical audits, case discussions, training and continuous professional development activities.
Teamwork & Clinic Operations
- Work closely with dental nurses, dental assistants, hygienists, clinic management and onsite GP medical clinic.
- Support the Dental Head and Clinic Manager in maintaining smooth clinical operations. Contribute to the development and improvement of dental services offered by the clinic.
3. Requirements
- Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) or equivalent recognised dental qualification.
- Registered with the Malaysian Dental Council (MDC) and possess a valid Annual Practising Certificate (APC).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant clinical experience as a General Dentist.
- Strong clinical knowledge and sound diagnostic and treatment-planning skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient-oriented with a strong commitment to quality care and patient safety.
- Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good time management and organisational skills.
- Professional, responsible and ethical in the delivery of dental care.

4. Preferred Qualifications / Added Advantage
- Experience working in a private dental clinic or multidisciplinary healthcare setting.
- Experience in aesthetic, restorative or prosthodontic dentistry is an advantage.
- Additional postgraduate qualifications or relevant certifications.
- Experience managing complex cases and coordinating multidisciplinary treatment.
