Our client is a large conglomerates (IT software) is looking for Functional Consultant (Smart Manufacturing) based in KL.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SmartManufacturing Consultant to drive the design, implementation, and adoption of Industry 4.0 solutions across manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will combine deep operational knowledge of production processes with expertise in digital technologies such as IoT, MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), IIoT platforms, automation, data analytics, and shop‑floor connectivity. This role supports clients or internal teams in transforming traditional manufacturing into agile, data‑driven, and highly efficient smart factories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess current manufacturing operations and identify opportunities for digitalization, automation, and performance optimisation.
  • Implement smart manufacturing architectures, including IIoT sensor integration, real‑time data collection, OEE tracking, and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Configure and deploy Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SCADA, PLC integration, and digital twin models aligned with operational KPIs.
  • Lead cross-functional workshops to map “as-is” and “to‑be” processes, ensuring alignment between IT, OT (Operational Technology), engineering, and production teams.
  • Integrate shop‑floor systems (e.g., CNC, robotics, packaging lines) with enterprise platforms (ERP, PLM, QMS) via APIs, OPC UA, MQTT, or middleware.
  • Develop dashboards and analytics solutions for real‑time visibility into production performance, quality, downtime, and energy usage.
  • Support change management, user training, and adoption of new digital workflows across plant personnel.
  • Collaborate with technology vendors (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, PTC, SAP, Microsoft Azure IoT) to evaluate and deploy best‑fit solutions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, process engineering, or digital transformation, with a focus on smart factory or Industry 4.0 initiatives.
  • Hands‑on experience with MES platforms (e.g., Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell FactoryTalk, SAP ME/MII, Honeywell), SCADA systems, and PLC/DCS environments.
  • Proficiency in IIoT protocols (OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus), edge computing, and cloud platforms (Azure IoT, AWS IoT, PTC ThingWorx).
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, machine learning use cases in production, and digital twin concepts.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites (if applicable).
Added advantage if the candidate has the below qualifications
  • Experience leading end‑to‑end smart manufacturing pilot‑to‑scale deployments.
  • Knowledge of cyber‑physical systems and industrial cybersecurity best practices.
  • Certifications such as Certified Smart Manufacturing Professional (CSMP), SAP Digital Manufacturing, Microsoft Azure IoT Developer, or Rockwell/Siemens platform certifications.
  • Background in regulated industries (e.g., automotive, pharma, food & beverage, or electronics) is a plus.
