Full‑time Research Assistant II – Speech, Language and Reading Lab (Ref. 533527)

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for a Full‑time Research Assistant II to join the Speech, Language and Reading Lab (SLRLab) in the Faculty of Education. The position is for one year, commencing as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct on‑site psycholinguistic assessment for children with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Acquire and analyze acoustic data using statistical and computational methods.
  • Assist with behavioural intervention and neuro‑physiological assessment under the guidance of an interdisciplinary research team.
  • Supervise and train student helpers from various disciplines, developing research management and leadership skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Speech‑Language Pathology, Linguistics, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Cantonese‑English bilingual speaker with adequate knowledge and experience in acoustic and linguistic, psychological, and cognitive science research.
  • Experience in acoustic measurements, behavioural experiments and data analysis, including Python, R, MATLAB and Praat (advantage).
  • Strong prioritization, organisational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with SEN children; attention to detail and sense of responsibility.
