Job summary

A logistics company in Malaysia is looking for a Freight Specialist who will handle customer inquiries, quotes, and bookings. Candidates should have 2-3 years of experience in freight sourcing or customer service, excellent negotiation skills, and knowledge of transportation regulations. The role requires quick decision-making and the ability to work under pressure. Immediate availability is a plus.

Job description

Freight specialist must respond to all inquiries within 24 hours.

Freight specialist must deliver a quote within 24 hours to the customer.

All quotation must be updated in the cargo wise system.

Freight specialist must confirm the pricing with customer before proceeding.

After customer approval, Freight Specialist will book on the same day.

Submit booking requests (SEA/AIR) to carriers.

Confirm the final cost with the customer.

Confirm pricing and shipment award

Communicate with customer about shipping arrangements (pick-up and delivery)

Monitor truck movement and coordinate with KLIA personnel for future arrangements.

Obtain awarded details from Freight Specialist and ensure all pricing customer had agreed.

Experienced in Bidding/RFQ/Tender.

Communicate closely with the customer for booking and trucking arrangement.

Provide trucking and driver details to customers, provide all documents, and monitor movement.

Update booking and trucking jobs in cargo wise and obtain the reference for billing.

Follow up on trucking movement and communicate with KLIA team and vendors for further arrangements.

Handover all shipments details and documents to operation-documentation Team.

Prepare weekly performance report on total number of booking and trucking handle for the week.

Attend any inquiries and issues from customers.

Ad-hoc assignment requested by Freight Operation Manager.

Job Requirement

Minimum 2 – 3 year experience in the role of freight sourcing ( air / sea) or freight customer service.

Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, customs procedures, and international shipping practices.

Experience in Freight forwarding mainly in handling quotation, customer service, booking, trucking and bidding/Tender experience.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment

Certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.

Fast learner, able to meet dateline and handle pressure and working odd hours or weekend if required

Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies in logistics.

Able to start immediately would be added advantage
