Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and well‑connected Freight Forwarding Manager with strong background to join our dynamic team at SWIFT. This full‑time position is based in Butterworth, Penang and will play a key role in the Business Unit. You oversee all aspects of our freight forwarding operations and marketing, ensuring efficient and seamless logistics for our valued clients.
Job Description
- To lead, train and evaluate freight forwarding staffs to build an efficient, high‑performing team.
- Oversee freight forwarding department and operation team functions and activities.
- Manage booking, routing, documentation and delivery of shipments.
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of import/export shipments and clearance.
- Oversee sales team performance, identifying potential clients and converting leads to long‑term customers.
- Ensure all shipments comply with local, international and customer‑specific customs regulations.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge on tariff codes, duties and trade regulations.
- Maintain good professional working relationships and effective communication with existing/new customers and all internal departments, affiliate offices, forwarders, shipping lines, customs agents and partners.
- Investigate and resolve any shipment delays, damages or discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain high levels of service quality.
- Perform any ad‑hoc duties as assigned or required from time to time.
Job Requirements
- Minimum 5–10 years of working experience in Freight Forwarding industry.
- Leadership skills with experience managing a team.
- Experience handling sea/air freight import/export operations and documentation with strong knowledge in customs procedure.
- Familiarity with INCOTERMS, practices, invoice and payment terms.
- Strong connection with shipping line freight forwarders and counterparties.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Able to adapt well to company policies and environmental changes.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Kursus Ejen Kastam (KEK) certificate and other customs‑related certificates.
- Fluency in spoken and written English, Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin (advantage for dealing with Chinese‑speaking clients).
- Possess own transport and be able to work in Butterworth, Penang.
