Job summary

A leading energy provider is looking for a Fluid Solids Static Equipment Engineer in Kuala Lumpur. What role you will play in the team

The Fluid Solids Static Equipment Engineer role provides mechanical engineering expertise and leadership in the design, fabrication, installation, analysis and maintenance of equipment in Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) and other Fluid Solids (FS) processes (e.g. Fluid Coking, Flexi Coking etc.). The role is based in Kuala Lumpur and provides mechanical engineering support to petrochemical facilities globally.

What you will do
  • Provide onsite and remote support during Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) / Fluid Coking (FLK) / Flexi Coking (FXK) unit shutdowns including equipment entry and assessment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues and develop on-stream repairs to safely avoid shutdown of equipment.
  • Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis for static equipment.
  • Design FCC / FLK / FXK equipment using established design methods, including static equipment design codes, Finite Element Analysis, and piping flexibility analysis.
  • Develop equipment specifications for fluid solids equipment (e.g. vessels and cyclone internals; slide valves; expansion joints; transfer and flue gas lines, etc.).
  • Perform engineering oversight of detailed design work performed by engineering contractors, and other engineers.
  • Ensure the retention of FCC / FLK / FXK mechanical engineering knowledge base within the corporation through mentoring and development of engineers.
  • Ensure maintenance of corporate guides, documents and procedures for the design and maintenance of fluid solids equipment in FCC/FLK/FXK services.
About you
Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of petrochemical experience, with at least 3 years of FCC / FLK / FXK experience
  • Fluid Solids Equipment: Design and assess complex Static Equipment to manage the high temperature and erosive process environment in FCC / FLK / FXK and other developing FS process technologies
  • Equipment Fabrication and Inspection: Integration of SE design; advance analysis; material selection; fabrication techniques; and inspection techniques when designing and managing life of FS equipment
  • Troubleshooting - Operations and Maintenance: Utilize company developed FS design, operating, and maintenance practices to develop optimized solutions for managing equipment reliability issues.
  • Equipment Sourcing and Project Execution: Engages with and assesses equipment suppliers and fabricators to assure delivery of fit-for-purpose of FS equipment. Performs engineering design and surveillance for FS equipment projects and turnaround execution.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills
  • Adaptable to tight deadlines and managing competing work priorities
  • Willingness to travel internationally
