Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking an experienced Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) Process Engineer to join the Kuala Lumpur Technology Center in Malaysia. Based in Kuala Lumpur, you will join a global process engineering team delivering technical support to manufacturing facilities worldwide and developing FCC improvement initiatives.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, lead FCC modeling efforts, and expand into related fluid solids technologies such as Fluid Coking (FLK).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 7 years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or refining.
• 5 years of specialization in Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC).
• Site or unit experience including monitoring, troubleshooting, asset support, projects and turnarounds.
• Process design experience and use of process simulation packages like Aspen, Pro-II, and KBC Petro-SIM.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship within the team.
• Support FCC process engineering and technical activities for ExxonMobil and licensee sites.
• Support capital projects with FCC process engineering and technical input.
• Lead or support troubleshooting for Fluid Solids processes.
• Collaborate with vendors on design, manufacture, testing and delivery of equipment.
• Support installation, commissioning and operation of facilities.

We are seeking an experienced engineer with expertise in Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) to join our Kuala Lumpur Technology Center team. In this role, you will be based in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and join a global process engineering team, providing technical support to manufacturing facilities worldwide. You will have opportunities to deliver deep technical insights on FCC operations and help develop various improvement initiatives. You will collaborate closely with other global process engineering teams/disciplines and site operations teams. Opportunities to expand your expertise into other fluid solids technologies, including Fluid Coking (FLK) will be provided.

What you will do

• Provide active Technical Leadership, assisting organization in goal setting, mentorship of less experienced engineers, sharing technical and organizational knowledge, envisioning and influencing improvements and value capture
• Process modeling sustainment and deployment support
• Provide FCC process engineering and technical support to ExxonMobil and third party licensee manufacturing sites
• Provide capital projects with FCC process engineering and technical support to meet business needs and efficient use of capital
• Lead or support troubleshooting or improvement opportunities for Fluid Solids processes
• Work collaboratively with vendors and suppliers to ensure appropriate design, manufacture, testing and delivery of equipment
• Support successful installation, commissioning, and operation of grassroots or revamped facilities
• Develop expertise in other fluids solids processes through mentoring and work assignments with opportunities for internal and external training as required

About you

Skills and Qualifications

To be eligible for this role, you must have:

• A bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering
• Minimum 7 years of experience in oil and gas, petrochemical or refining industry
• Minimum 5 years of specialization in a fluid solids process (Fluid Catalytic Cracking)
• Technical site or unit experience including monitoring, troubleshooting, asset support, projects and turnarounds
• Process and equipment design experience including use of process simulation packages, such as Aspen, Pro-II, and KBC Petro-SIM
• Ability to demonstrate following:
• Ensure health of FCC modeling and optimization tools, and identify needed changes
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, especially in multi-cultural global team
• Strategic thinking and develop creative fit for purpose solutions to resolve operational problems
• Influence and promote change to achieve desired results with no or minimal direct authority
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed for various business reasons
