Firmware Verification Lead (Data Center / Server Security)

The Firmware Security Engineering group is responsible for developing Platform Security and Content Protection features across the software stack including device drivers, firmware, and application-level interfaces.Within the larger Security group, the GPU Platform Security Team is responsible for the Firmware Security Stack that runs on the entire range of AMD Graphics Processing Units which include Cloud/Consumer Gaming, Workstation, Data Center and AI, enabling our customers to build solutions and driving the next wave of innovation in Exascale computing.

What you will do as part of this team:

As the Firmware Verification Domain Lead, you will be responsible for enhancing and expanding test coverage for security firmware features across a range of hardware platforms. This includes designing, implementing, and automating test cases that validate the functionality, performance, and security aspects of low-level firmware components. You will work closely with firmware developers, validation teams, and cross‑functional hardware/software stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle—including pre‑silicon environments such as simulators, FPGAs, and emulation platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, design, develop and implement firmware validation solutions that align with industry security standards and requirements
  • Demonstrate AGILE methodologies and best practices for Software Engineering
  • Design and Implement Embedded Firmware enhancements to strengthen firmware validation frameworks.
  • Develop new software features and improvements within pre‑silicon environments
  • Activelyparticipatein design reviews and architectural discussions
  • Lead the triage, debugging, root‑cause analysis and resolution of issues found during pre‑silicon and post‑silicon verification

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience designing and automating test cases validating functionality, performance, and security aspects of firmware features
  • Exposure to scripting languages for test automation and log analysis
  • C/C++ familiarity to reason about FW; Python (preferred) or similar for automation; Git; CI systems; debuggers and log/trace tools.
  • Ability to independently drive complex validation tasks while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional firmware, software, silicon, and security teams.
  • Critical thinking and ability to apply problem solving to real world challenges
  • Familiarity with pre‑silicon validation on FPGAs or simulation environments along with ASIC bring‑up will be considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Cryptography, Platform Security concepts will be considered an asset
  • GPU/RAS and virtualization (e.g., SR‑IOV) exposure; familiarity with security standards/process (e.g., FIPS/NIST/TCG); experience with Semiconductor tape‑out or production releases.
  • Experience using AI tools (Cursor, Claude, Cline, Copilot) for test generation, log triage, or automation is an asset.
  • Excellent communications skills: verbal, written and interpersonal

Academic Credentials:

University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related subject, 5–7 years of proven experience.
