A retail company in Petaling Jaya is seeking a financial manager to oversee financial aspects, including budgeting, forecasting, and compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Finance or Accounting, has at least 5 years of related experience—3 years in retail—and possesses excellent communication and analytical skills. This position offers the opportunity to influence business performance and requires a high level of integrity and attention to detail.
To oversee all financial aspects of the retail business including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and financial reporting.
To ensure accurate financial management, compliance with statutory requirements, and supports management with financial insights to drive business performance and profitability.
Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans in coordination with management.
Monitor financial performance versus budget and provide variance analysis.
Oversee daily accounting operations including AP, AR, GL, and inventory accounting.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.
Prepare financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory bodies.
Manage cash flow, banking operations, and working capital.
Optimism use of funds and ensure liquidity for operational needs.
Monitor payment cycles, supplier terms and collection timelines.
Establish and maintain internal controls and standard operating procedures.
Ensure compliance with company policies, tax laws and relevant financial regulations.
Support internal audits and risk management initiatives.
Provide financial insights for business expansion, pricing strategies, and store performance.
Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
Professional qualifications (e.g. ACCA, MIA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent) preferred.
Minimum 5-8 years of finance experience, with at least 3 years in retail.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
