Overview

This role is responsible for leading the finance and tax function for a regional retail and trading group with operations across Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. You will manage day-to-day finance operations, ensure cross-border compliance, and provide financial support to leadership as the business continues to scale.

Responsibilities

Finance Operations & Reporting

• Manage monthly closing, full sets of accounts, and group consolidation.
• Establish and improve SOPs, internal controls, and reporting tools using Excel and Google Sheets.
• Prepare management reports, cash flow forecasts, and performance analysis for decision-making.
• Review sales and channel performance (e.g. TikTok, Shopee) to support margin and profitability improvement.
• Coordinate audits and statutory submissions in Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
• Support intercompany transactions and implement practical transfer pricing arrangements.

Commercial & Strategic Support

• Work closely with founders and senior management on budgeting, financial planning, and expansion initiatives.
• Provide financial analysis for capex planning, inventory growth, and new market entry.
• Assess financial risks related to contracts, tenancy agreements, and vendor terms.
• Support negotiations by providing cost and pricing insights.
• Lead a team of 4 finance members on processes, compliance, and reporting standards.
• Promote accountability, clarity, and ownership within the team.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) is an advantage.
• At least 7 years of relevant finance experience, ideally within multi-entity or cross-border environments.

Technical Skills

• Strong working knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets (advanced formulas, reporting, modelling).
• Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
• Good understanding of tax and regulatory requirements in Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
