Job description
Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Finance Manager for a 6-month contract position to lead our finance team in Malaysia. This role is critical for ensuring the continuity and stability of our financial operations while the incumbent manager is dedicated to a company-wide system migration project.

As a key member of the Malaysia leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing all day-to-day financial functions and managing the finance team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on and autonomous leader who excels at maintaining high standards of financial control and reporting during a period of change.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Malaysia finance team, ensuring all daily, monthly, and yearly financial operations run smoothly.
  • Oversee all core financial functions, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), and tax.
  • Prepare and analyze accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in compliance with Malaysia Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and other local regulations.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful analysis to support senior management decision-making.
  • Ensure robust financial controls and processes are maintained and adhered to across the department.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, banks, and other financial partners.
  • Oversee cash flow management and optimize working capital.
  • Liaise with the incumbent Finance Manager and the project team to provide necessary financial information and support for the system migration exercise, ensuring business-as-usual activities are not disrupted.
  • Provide sound financial analysis and recommendations to support ongoing business initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for both external and internal auditors, leading the end-to-end audit process to ensure a smooth and efficient engagement.
  • Oversee the timely preparation of all necessary audit schedules and documentation and proactively address any findings or recommendations to strengthen internal controls.
Qualifications
  • ACCA or a Degree in Accounting, with a professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA) preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive Finance and Accounting experience in a medium or large organization, with at least 5 years in a strong managerial role. Mature candidates and those who have taken career breaks are welcome to apply.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing and developing finance teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of Malaysian financial regulations and accounting standards (SFRS).
  • A self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently, navigate challenges, and manage stakeholder expectations with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Experience working through a period of significant change (such as a system implementation) is highly advantageous.
  • Work experience in the IT field is preferable.
  • Comfortable with a matrix reporting structure.
