Job summary

Scudai in Malaysia seeks a Head of the Accounts & Finance Department to provide strategic advisory to HR/Admin and lead the accounting team in daily operations. You will manage cashflow, oversee closings, and implement policies to ensure MPERS compliance.

The role requires 5–8 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years in management, plus strong leadership and communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; Mandarin is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or equivalent professional qualification.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in property development, feasibility studies, and joint ventures is advantageous.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; English and Bahasa Malaysia required.

Responsibilities

• Act as Head of Department for Accounts & Finance and advise HR/Admin as needed.
• Lead accounting team, manage cash flow, and oversee month-end/quarter closings.
• Implement accounting policies and procedures as directed by management.
• Perform tax computations, planning, and liaise with tax agents and authorities.
• Review financial statements and coordinate with external auditors for MPERS compliance.
• Monitor related party transactions and transfer pricing matters.
• Prepare annual budgets, costing, and cash flow forecasts.
• Assist Project Department with feasibility studies for new projects.
• Arrange bank financing and review loan documentation.
• Assist in land deals and joint venture negotiations; liaise with lawyers.
• Review and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory/regulatory requirements.
• Perform ad-hoc duties as instructed by the Board.

3. Implement accounting and financial policies and procedures as required by management.
4. Perform and review tax computations, tax planning, and liaise with tax agents and authorities.
5. Review financial statements and coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance with MPERS.
6. Monitor related party transactions and transfer pricing matters.
7. Prepare annual budgets, costing, and cash flow forecasts in line with management’s targets.
8. Assist the Project Department in feasibility studies for new projects.
9. Arrange bank financing, liaise with bankers, and review loan documentation.
10. Assist in land deals and joint venture negotiations, review agreements and contracts, and liaise with lawyers.
11. Review and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures.
12. Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
13. Perform ad-hoc duties as instructed by the Board.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, or equivalent preferred).
• Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in property development, feasibility studies, and joint ventures is an added advantage.
• Strong leadership, people management, and communication skills.
• Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia; proficiency in Mandarin is an added advantage.
