Job summary

A leading inspection and certification company in Johor, Malaysia, is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform testing and analysis in compliance with quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field and some experience in an analytical laboratory. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate results, training junior staff, and following HSE policies. A collaborative environment with opportunities for fresh graduates is offered.

Job Description
  • Perform testing and analysis in accordance with the standard/in-house methods and to comply with QA/QC procedures.
  • To ensure timeliness, precision and accuracy of analytical results to meet turnaround time.
  • Effective implementation and maintenance of MS ISO/IEC 17025 as well as Group Quality System.
  • Adhere to group HSE safety procedures.
  • Ensure that information from the clients is kept as strictly confidential and never revealed to the third party.
  • Ensure all analytical equipment, apparatus etc are maintained and calibrated as per the required schedule.
  • Ensure root-cause of all non-conformities or customer complaints are to be investigated and identified with appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
  • To treat proficiency Testing Programmed or Round Robin seriously and make sure the result obtained is most accurate and precise.
  • To train, supervise and monitor lab technicians /Junior Staff with assigned test methods and procedures.
  • To ensure all controlled quality procedures, test methods and document are kept confidentially and restricted within SGS premise.
  • Practice Good Housekeeping and Good Laboratory practice.
  • Adherence to SGS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy by uphold a good safety behavior and exercising necessary standard and process when carry out your responsibilities at all times to ensure compliance to the HSE requirements.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by your reporting manager and/or Senior Management
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or related field from recognized university/college
  • Minimum 1-4 years’ experience in relevant analytical laboratory however fresh graduates with right and positive attitude are acceptable
