Job Title: Plant Facilities Technician
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Overview:

The Facility Technician at Insulet Malaysia is responsible for installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, energy efficiency, and improvement of facilities equipment and building systems. They will be trained and cross-trained to repair, maintain, and enhance the reliability of various services, oversee outsource teams and contractors, ensure activities support business objectives, comply with cGMP standards, and manage performance and development. The technician must maintain facility systems, prioritize safety for staff and patients, focus on quality, be self-directed, motivated, a team player, and eager to learn and share knowledge. The role operates on a flexible schedule, including all shifts, due to the plant's 24/7 operation. Candidates should be quality-conscious, proactive, and initiative-driven.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure compliance with safety, quality policies, and employee guidelines.
  2. Maintain facility equipment, controls, and systems, establishing standards for reliability.
  3. Apply Lean principles to foster continuous improvement in safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  4. Interact effectively with facility stakeholders and respond to job requests promptly.
  5. Address requests within 30 minutes to 1 hour, assist vendors, and follow up diligently.
  6. Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, civil, and other systems.
  7. Possess knowledge of electrical, mechanical, civil, and ELV systems such as CDA, Dryer, Vacuum systems.
  8. Manage HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, LEV systems, and related daily operations and reporting.
  9. Perform technical troubleshooting and resolve operational, safety, or efficiency issues.
  10. Assist root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions for equipment issues.
  11. Support audits, inspections, and statutory license renewals (DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, etc.).
  12. Plan and execute preventive maintenance and emergency repairs for HVAC, biosafety cabinets, cold rooms, and other systems.
  13. Handle pharmaceutical documentation like deviations, investigation reports, SOPs, and calibration logs.
  14. Monitor and control building automation and environmental systems.
  15. Ensure safety permits and hazard analyses are in place for projects and maintenance.
  16. Participate in drills and emergency response exercises.
  17. Analyze trends in energy and water consumption and implement corrective actions.
  18. Contribute to quality plans to ensure minimal disruptions and quick return to service.
  19. Maintain building infrastructure including drainage, water supply, and cleanroom environments.
  20. Manage calibration activities for HVAC and other monitoring equipment.
  21. Prepare monthly facility reports and document maintenance activities thoroughly.
  22. Collaborate with manufacturing and corporate teams to schedule and execute maintenance.
  23. Perform ISO class 8 and 9 cleanroom qualification activities, adhering to ASHRAE standards.
  24. Support energy efficiency initiatives, including solar energy systems.
  25. Assist contractors, vendors, and outsourced providers.
  26. Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and consumables.
  27. Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.
Education and Experience:
  • Higher Diploma or Diploma in electrical & electronics, mechanical, mechatronics, or related fields.
  • 2-3 years of experience with facilities systems in manufacturing, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or cleanroom industries.
  • Experience in high-volume production environments preferred.
  • AO / A4 Chargeman certification is advantageous.
  • Process-oriented with data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, high-volume settings.
  • Dedicated and committed to responsibilities.
Preferred Skills and Competencies:
  • Strong troubleshooting and PC skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of facility systems, electronics, and PCBA production.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Electrical and software aptitude, technical reading skills, and knowledge of HVAC, ELV, and BMS systems.
  • Experience in cleanroom environments and regulated industries is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and detail-oriented skills.
  • Adaptability to changing work plans and unplanned issues.
  • Curiosity and a desire for continuous learning.
  • Data analysis for decision-making.
  • Multilingual skills in English and Malay are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work all shifts, including some weekends.
  • Stand for at least 75% of the shift, walk at least 50% of the shift.
