Job summary

Flex is seeking a Facilities Engineer based in Prai, Penang to apply engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities used in product manufacturing. The role requires knowledge of electrical, HVAC, fire protection, and related systems, with focus on maintenance and performance standards.

Typical responsibilities include evaluating equipment specifications, feasibility studies for new plant facilities, and guiding project teams while leveraging CAD tools and industry publications

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent experience and training.
• Typically requires a minimum of 4 years of experience as an Industrial or Facilities Engineer or related area.
• Knowledge and practice in facilities related systems operation and maintenance (Electrical, HVAC, CDA/VAC, DI/WWTP, Fire Protection, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing methods, machines, equipment, or processes used in product manufacturing.
• Perform knowledge and practice in facilities related systems operation and maintenance (Electrical, HVAC, CDA/VAC, DI/WWTP, Fire Protection, etc.).
• Research facility products or equipment specifications to define designs that can be produced by existing facilities and methods.
• Define feasibility of designing new plant facilities equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, space, time, and business factors.
• Provide technical facilities information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages.
• Compile and research facilities data to establish performance standards for equipment.
• Stay updated on engineering publications and industry developments.
• Utilize computer aided engineering and design software to perform engineering tasks.
• Guide projects and project teams.

This role involves applying engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing methods, machines, equipment, or processes used in product manufacturing.

What a typical day looks like:

• Knowledge and practice in facilities related systems operation and maintenance (Electrical, HVAC, CDA/VAC, DI/WWTP, Fire Protection, etc.).
• Research facility products or equipment specifications and performance requirements to define designs which can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
• Research engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data pertaining to industrial facilities machinery and equipment design.
• Defines feasibility of designing new plant facilities equipment or modifying existing facilities considering costs, available space, time limitations, company planning and other technical and economic factors.
• Provides technical facilities information concerning manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, properties and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
• Compiles and research facilities research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified equipment.
• Studies engineering and technical publications to keep abreast of technical changes and developments in industry.
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.
• Guides projects and project teams.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent experience and training.
