Job summary

Coherent Corp. in Ipoh, Malaysia is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to oversee operation, inspection, and maintenance of high/low voltage power distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS, lighting, and grounding.

You will monitor load trends and power quality to ensure high uptime and safety. The role emphasizes engineering, projects, and technical support, with responsibilities for design coordination, testing, commissioning, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in facility electrical maintenance, building services, or a similar engineering environment.
• Valid BO Chargeman Certificate is required.
• Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, protection devices, and energy management.
• Familiarity with MV, LV, and ELV systems.
• Good troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills with internal teams, contractors, and consultants.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple maintenance and project activities effectively.

Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for managing and supervising electrical works within the facility.
• Ensure all electrical systems and installations are operated, maintained, and managed safely and efficiently.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues, including power interruptions, equipment failures, and electrical faults.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to minimize recurring electrical problems.
• Ensure the facility's electrical systems are maintained in good, safe, and reliable operating condition.
• Coordinate with contractors and service providers for electrical maintenance, repair, testing, and project activities.
• Monitor electrical system performance and recommend improvements to enhance reliability, safety, and energy efficiency.
