Job summary

DHL Group in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, is seeking an experienced Cost Engineer to strengthen the Cost Engineering function in APAC. You will partner with Procurement, Solution Engineering and Operations to identify improvement opportunities and maximize value.

The role requires about 5 years of industry experience, a technical degree, strong English, and willingness to travel ~20%. You will support category teams and drive cost reduction across DHL Group's products and services.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities.
• Problem solving, accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to facilitate better decision making with knowledge of manufacturing technologies.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma or consulting programs.
• Strong English communication to share solutions with project teams and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across functions and realize improvement roadmaps, standardization and complexity reductions.
• Improve the competitiveness and quality of DHL Group products & services through cost analysis, design-to-value & standardization projects.
• Support DHL Group's engineering and category teams to drive forward preferred solution designs.
• Communicate accurately and timely project metrics to key stakeholders.
• Train and coach Category Sourcing Managers and Solution Engineers.
• Work in a Community of Practice on Cost Engineering topics at DHL Group to identify best practices.

We are looking for an immediate, full-time, permanent position in APAC at Cyberjaya, Malaysia.

Job Purpose

• To support fact-based decision making in Procurement we want to further build and strengthen the Cost Engineering function to identify improvement opportunities and maximize business value.
• The Cost Engineers collaborate globally across Procurement and divisions to provide better service and products at lower cost.

Your tasks

• Work with partners in Procurement, Solution Engineering and Operations through applying Cost & Value Engineering levers
• Collaborate across functions and realize improvement roadmaps, standardization and complexity reductions
• Improve the competitiveness and quality of DHL Group products & services through cost analysis, design-to-value & standardization projects
• Support DHL Group's engineering and category teams to drive forward preferred solution designs
• Communicate accurately and timely project metrics to key stakeholders
• Train and coach Category Sourcing Managers and Solution Engineers
• Work in a Community of Practice on Cost Engineering topics at DHL Group to identify best practices, promote active knowledge sharing in the network of Solution Engineers, Category Sourcing Managers and through this improve our current working processes, standards, tools & methods
• Coach and help professionals to work on strategic saving opportunities and help achieve them

Your profile

• Proven track record in identifying and implementing optimal solutions and cost reduction opportunities in a consultative approach and based on business needs
• Problem solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail
• Competence to facilitate better decision making in Development and Procurement, based on knowledge of key manufacturing technologies
• Project and quality management competence gained, e.g. in Supply Base Management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or consulting programs
• Competence in working with expert project teams to improve identified opportunities
• Teaming skills to drive change and challenge project teams; strong English communication skills to share solutions with project teams and suppliers
• Suggestions to improve systems (cost and value) and convince cross functional partners
• Travelling approx. 20%
• Proficiency in English - reading, writing & speaking

Experience Level

• Approx. 5 years of industry experience in Development, Procurement, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management or similar functions

Education Level

• Bachelor/Master degree in a technical subject (preferably Industrial Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, IT, Operations Research or similar)
