Job summary

A leading financial services company in Malaysia is seeking a Tax Assistant to assist with tax compliance and management. The successful candidate will prepare tax computations, ensure timely submission of compliance requirements, and liaise with auditors and relevant authorities. The ideal applicant should possess a Professional Certificate in Accountancy/Taxation or a related degree, have at least 2 years of experience, and be proficient in both English and Malay, with strong analytical and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a tax or accounting firm.
  • Strong command of both English and Malay, in verbal and written form.
  • Good understanding of tax regulations across various industries.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Tax Manager in managing tax compliance matters for the Group.
  • Prepare provisional tax computations and review tax computations for subsidiaries.
  • Ensure timely submission of all compliance requirements.

Job description
Responsibilities
  1. Assist the Tax Manager in managing all tax compliance matters for the Group.
  2. Prepare provisional tax computations (WHB) and review tax computations for subsidiaries, including deferred tax for audit purposes.
  3. Prepare tax estimates for statutory compliance and internal planning purposes.
  4. Ensure timely submission of all compliance requirements, including tax estimates/revisions, instalment payments, and tax provisions.
  5. Prepare final tax computations and tax returns for companies handled in-house.
  6. Liaise with auditors and relevant authorities on corporate tax matters, including tax registration, refunds, and set-offs.
  7. Coordinate with accountants and tax agents to gather information required for statutory tax compliance.
  8. Support team members in transfer pricing (TP) compliance, including TP study analysis, documentation preparation, and updates.
Job Requirements
  1. Professional Certificate in Accountancy/Taxation or a Degree in a related field from a recognized university; pursuing a professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, MICPA) is an added advantage.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a tax or accounting firm.
  3. Strong command of English and Malay, both written and verbal.
  4. Good understanding of tax regulations across various industries, with the ability to prepare tax computations independently.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  6. Responsible, committed, and able to work under pressure.
  7. Possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
