Job Summary
Assist in developing quality goals and improvement plans. Track quality performance and initiate quality improvement plans. Define and develop quality criteria. Manage all quality related activities. Review process control plan, drive quality issues to root cause, corrective actions and improvement.
Job Responsibilities
Quality Assurance
- Responsible for making sure that the quality of products delivered to customer is at optimum level and within the standard requirement of Malaysian Food Act 1983 and Food Regulation 1985
- To ensure compliance with FSSC22000/ ISO22000/ HALAL/ SIRIM/ YUM/ MOH/ DOSH/ DOE or any other authorized parties’ requirements and also responsible to keep track on the renewal of third-party certification license.
- To assist QAM to ensure proper execution of all quality and laboratory policies, procedures and methods.
- Responsible for coordinating with the parties concerned for complaints investigation and to work out corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
- To assist the QAM in the Food Safety and Quality program. These include: -
- to develop, establish and maintain a HACCP/GMP system
- to coordinate the rest of the team members in the Food Safety & Quality team and to report to top management
- to liaise with external parties
- to assist in Scheduled Waste Management
- to ensure food safety verification to external laboratories are done according to set frequency
- to ensure pest control activities are done according to the set program
- to handle customer feedback and complaint
- to establish, review, revise (if needed) and filing of food safety & quality procedures
- to conduct trainings as per scheduled in the Food Safety Master Plan
- To monitor the pest control activity by the external pest control provider, to ensure all the relevant documentations are up-to-date and properly filed for audit purpose.
- To handle the issuance of Corrective Action Request (CAR) to respective department following any non-conformances found during food safety & quality audits and to closely follow-up the CAR reply from time to time.
- To involve in the Food Safety Team in routine plant inspection (PRP inspection) and to follow up on the corrective action by relevant departments.
- In the absence of the QAM, the QAE is responsible for the daily operation of the QA Dept and to ensure the continuity of the activities/programs.
Quality Control
- To oversee the daily operation of the QA Department. i.e. make the necessary arrangements i.e. manpower, SOPs, work instructions, checklist etc.
- To be in charge in the arrangement to analyse quality of flour production in various stages i.e. from the raw material till finished product in accordance with the established QA plan. This includes also the flour performance test.
- To be in charge in monitoring lab activities and lab testing.
- To plan for the quarterly internal competency and precision test, and to coordinate for the quarterly inter-laboratory collaborative test sample.
- To ensure reagent and standard solutions are prepared according to the required concentration.
- To acts as the final checker for the daily reports, and to ensure reports are submitted to relevant parties in a timely manner.
- To handle the issuance of Internal Corrective Action request (ICAR) or Request for Investigation (RFI) to production when non-conformance occurred, and to closely follow up any non-conformance issues from time to time.
- To ensure the accuracy of the laboratory and bakery equipment and to ensure that maintenance and calibration of test equipment are done according to the set frequency.
- Responsible for liaising with external laboratories and arranging the sending of the laboratory Master equipment for calibration activity as per set frequency.
- To assist in any study/trial relating to product testing or quality improvement plan initiated by the superiors.
Education & Qualification
Minimum Degree in Food Science or Food Technology.
Relevant Experience & Years of Service
Preferably with at least 2 years of relevant experience in Food Quality and Manufacturing environment or related QA Field.
Technical Skills & Professional Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian Food Act 1983 and Food Regulation 1985
- Strong knowledge of Food Hygiene 2009
- Knowledge on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Knowledge on HACCP standard requirement
- Knowledge on ISO22000:2018 standard requirements
- Knowledge on FSSC22000 standard requirements
- Knowledge of Environmental Quality Act 1974 (Act 127)
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365
- Attention to detail (detail-oriented), thoroughness, dealing with complexity, process improvement, analyzing information, problem solving, strong decision making, good verbal communication and rapport in informing others.
- Coordination and adjusting actions in relation to others’ action.
- Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges
- Capable of multitasking and working with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills (i.e. verbal and written)
