A governmental regulatory body is seeking a multidisciplinary professional for a role in data analytics and regulatory support. The position is based in Cyberjaya and requires analytical skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with public sector entities. This is a multidisciplinary role that combines data analytics with regulatory and compliance support for smart city initiatives. The role bridges technical analysis with governance, making sure that smart city solutions are both data-driven and aligned with relevant policies and guidelines. This is essential to assist the Head of Department with accurate and timely analysis while also reviewing legal and regulatory requirements to ensure project compliance. This job purpose fulfills MCMC's roles under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, RMK-12, MyDigital Blueprint, and the Malaysia Smart City Framework (MSCF).
Conduct analysis to identify patterns, trends, and key metrics, develop dashboards and visualization tools using platforms such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau, and provide regular data insights to support project tracking and evaluation.
Major Activities: Highlight trends and gaps, assist the HOD evaluate progress, coordinate with stakeholders, and align projects with broader smart city objectives.
Assist with the review of relevant legal, policy, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., telecommunications, data governance, urban planning), cross-check project deliverables against compliance requirements, and flag any potential regulatory risks or non‑compliance issues.
Major Activities: Conduct reviews of applicable legal, policy, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., telecommunications, data governance, urban planning), ensure project deliverables are aligned with compliance requirements, and escalate any identified regulatory risks or non‑compliance issues in a timely manner.
Provide support in the effort to establish strategic collaborations with relevant government entities, including ministries, government agencies, state governments, and local municipalities.
Major Activities: Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with government entities, including ministries, government agencies, state governments, and local municipalities.
Bachelor’s degree in data science, Law, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Urban Planning, or related fields.
Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in data analysis, reporting, and research, with exposure to regulatory and policy‑related work, multidisciplinary team collaboration, and preparation of stakeholder reports and dashboards. Experience in liaison with ministries, government agencies, and state government.
Familiar with data analytics and data visualization tools and use it for proposing solution to the management.
Basic understanding of compliance requirements, governance, and policy frameworks especially on the related acts and regulations (Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (CMA 1998), Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act (MCMCA), USP Regulations, and others).
Good stakeholder management skills to manage internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to collect, clean, and interpret data accurately.
Identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
Recognize when issues need to be escalated to senior staff or legal experts.
Write clear, concise reports and documentation.
Tailor messages for technical teams, managers, and external stakeholders.
