Job summary

A government agency in Malaysia is seeking a Product Designer to support the enhancement of product offerings. This role involves identifying opportunities for product and service enhancement, analyzing customer needs, and designing solutions in alignment with strategic goals. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in relevant fields, have at least four years of experience, and be proficient in both Bahasa Melayu and English. This is a permanent position based in Petaling Jaya.

Job description
JOB SUMMARY

Support the product design and implementation strategy of EPF’s product offerings by translating policies and customer insights into conceptual design and continuously identify and analyse product enhancement initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Identify product and service enhancement opportunities, analyse customer needs, design products, services, and solutions that align with organisational strategy, market dynamics, and customer expectations.

  • Conducts market research, competitor analysis, and internal assessments to identify opportunities.
  • Develops basic design concepts and proposed business solutions.
  • Aligns proposals with defined objectives and customer expectations.

2. Use knowledge on product, process, systems and policy to strategise product enhancement initiatives.

  • Interprets and advises on the product changes within the department.
  • Provides advisory to internal and external stakeholders on product to resolve complex issues within the department.
  • Engages in cross‑department committees/working groups, offering input on product improvement.

3. Continuously enhance organizational performance by identifying improvement opportunities, re‑engineering processes, and leveraging automation technologies to achieve efficiency, quality, and service excellence.

  • Suggests small improvements to enhance work processes within the department.
  • Assists in documenting product changes and implements basic workflow enhancements.
  • Provides input for automation opportunities and uses simple digital tools effectively.

4. Design, implement, and monitor strategies that align with organizational objectives, ensuring effective resource utilisation, risk mitigation, and sustainable growth.

  • Contributes to develop operational plans that reflect departmental priorities.
  • Assists in identifying potential risks, dependencies, and resource needs during planning.
  • Uses established tools and templates to document and track strategic initiatives.

5. Identify, engage, and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to build trust, align expectations, and achieve organisational objectives. This includes anticipating stakeholder needs, navigating competing priorities, and fostering collaborative partnerships.

  • Supports engagement activities by sharing relevant updates and ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Recognises different stakeholder needs and adapts tone or approach accordingly.
  • Escalates issues to supervisors when conflicts or misalignments arise.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Malaysian citizen.
  • Pass in Bahasa Melayu, including oral test in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
  • Bachelor's Degree with honours in the field of Statistics / Actuary / Business Economics or equivalent qualifications from local or overseas higher learning institutions recognised by the Malaysian government.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in product design, business analysis, or strategy (experience in financial services or digital products is an advantage).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market trends and data.
  • Willingness to learn, work in a team and share knowledge.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written correspondence) in Bahasa Melayu and English professionally with stakeholders.
