Job summary

A marine services company in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Procurement Specialist to manage procurement activities, establish vendor relationships, and coordinate logistics. The ideal candidate will hold a diploma or degree in Marine or Mechanical Engineering with at least 2 years of experience in the Marine industry. Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills are essential. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, collaborating closely with vendors and supporting operational needs.

Qualifications

  • 2 years procurement experience in the Marine Industry.
  • Tele data knowledge and previous experience in ship management will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.

Job description

Deploy the Company’s procurement activities based on established product specifications and business needs.

Establish working-level relationships with the Company’s network and external vendors for optimal procurement transactions.

Perform daily operational procurement activities and coordinate shipment, documentation, logistics, and scheduled matters.

Manage approved vendors and ensure that suppliers database are well maintained and up-to-date.

Plan or arrange the transport for the collection/transfer of spares/stores to the respective ships according to the information provided by the Superintendents.

Establish and develop strong working relationships with vendors to ensure timely delivery and provide excellent service to internal customers.

Work closely with suppliers and responsible for clarifying and negotiating with vendors on contractual terms, pricing and service level to meet the business needs.

Review and manage all procurement documents and ensure accuracy and completeness in accordance to Procurement policies and procedures.

Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including ethical conduct and financial controls.

Carry out other duties assigned by the Management.

Job Requirements
  • Diploma / Degree in Marine / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with 2 years procurement experience in the Marine Industry
  • Tele data knowledge and previous experience in ship management will be an added advantage
  • Possess good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • A team player with sense of priority, organized and meticulous
  • Positive attitude, self-driven, proactive, able to work independently and hardworking
  • Have an excellent command of English, both written and verbal, and a flair for IT
