Job description
Executive Officer – HKU Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science (Ref.: 533544)

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for an Executive Officer in the HKU Musketeers Foundation Institute of Data Science. The role will commence as soon as possible on a two‑year fixed‑term basis with contract‑end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, journalism, communications, language, or a related discipline, and at least four years of relevant work experience in tertiary education institutions or NGOs, particularly in event management, public relations, and/or publishing design, media and communications (e.g., website and social media management). Experience in committee work and supervision of junior staff in a small team is preferred. Strong communication skills, self‑motivation, awareness of global affairs and proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua) are essential. A high level of computer literacy and the ability to manage multiple assignments concurrently while balancing priorities and meeting deadlines are required. The candidate should be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, organise and coordinate the Institute’s outreach events and activities such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and short‑term programmes.
  • Liaise with diverse stakeholders, both internally and externally.
  • Manage project budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting.
  • Conceptualise and execute marketing strategies to enhance the Institute’s visibility and engagement.
  • Manage content creation and write‑ups, including e‑newsletters, publicity, social media posts, event scripts and promotional materials.
  • Lead the Multimedia Designer and Project Assistant to create effective visual content for promotional purposes.
  • Oversee social media scheduling and website management.
  • Provide secretarial support to IDS committees.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointee may be required to work outside normal office hours and on weekends.
