Role Purpose
This role is responsible for supporting the ground operations function by developing, maintaining and ensuring compliance with standards, procedures and operational publications. The incumbent will act as a custodian of operational documentation, ensure procedures are aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, and help embed consistent process execution across ground operations teams and stations.
Key Accountability
- Ensure adherence to safety and security policies and procedures in line with Ground and Cargo Operations objectives.
- Support the integration of safety considerations into all departmental processes and documentation.
- Maintain, update, and manage all Ground and Cargo Operations manuals, work instructions, and guidelines to ensure accuracy, currency, and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure all documentation reflects the latest operational practices, safety standards, and applicable regulatory changes.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g., CAAM, airport authorities) to obtain necessary approvals for proposed amendments to Ground and Cargo Operations manuals.
- Facilitate effective communication between the department and regulators to ensure continued compliance and alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Stay updated on changes to civil aviation regulations, IATA standards, and ICAO recommendations relevant to ground and cargo operations.
- Identify key regulatory or industry changes and support their integration into operational procedures and documentation.
- Review and incorporate applicable updates from the IATA Ground Operations Manual (IGOM) as needed.
- Identify gaps between existing departmental procedures and IGOM best practices, and propose necessary updates to align documentation accordingly.
- Serve as the Custodian of the Master Copies of all Ground Operations manuals, ensuring proper version control and accessibility.
- Carry out any additional duties or special assignments as directed by the Head of Ground Operations.
Qualification & Working Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Aviation Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years depending on area of experience.
Areas of Experience
- Aviation compliance, safety, or a related field.
- Experience working with regulators on aviation regulations and standards, including CAAM, IATA, and ICAO.
- Experience in relevant operational areas, safety management and auditing with a minimum one (1) year related experience.
- Well-versed and updated with all related regulations and industry best practice references.
